Mobley’s Framing and Gallery excited to host a new solo exhibition for artist Doug Bennet titled “Wish You Were Here”. In the words of the artist: "This body of work explores the unreliability of memory and the seductive distortions of nostalgia. Drawing from vintage advertising and mid-century ephemera, the pieces reimagine cultural artifacts once meant to sell comfort and certainty. Central to the imagery is the carousel—once a symbol of innocence—now spinning off-axis, populated by surreal, stitched-together creatures. These works invite viewers to question the stories we tell ourselves about the past, revealing nostalgia not as a gentle remembrance, but as a fractured illusion.” Doug Bennet will be talking briefly at the opening about his new body of work, and there will be wine and light bites available.
